Ryan Klesko paced the team with 24 home runs, while Javy Lopez, Jeff Blauser, Fred McGriff, Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones each walloped 20 or more, too. Chipper Jones drove in 111 runs. Kenny Lofton topped hitters with significant playing time by hitting .333. Denny Neagle paced the squad with 20 wins, and Greg Maddux and John Smoltz added 15 or more victories also Greg Maddux recorded a 2.20 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Bobby Cox coached the team. The 1997 Atlanta Braves qualified for the playoffs as a division winner.
