The California Angels of the American League ended the 1986 season with a record of 92 wins and 70 losses, finishing first in the AL's West Division.
The Angels plated 786 runs and surrendered 684 runs. Doug DeCinces paced California with 26 home runs, while Brian Downing, Reggie Jackson, Ruppert Jones and Wally Joyner each walloped 20 or more, too. Wally Joyner drove in 100 runs and topped hitters with significant playing time by hitting .290. Mike Witt led the team with 18 wins, and Kirk McCaskill and Don Sutton added 15 or more victories as well Mike Witt earned a 2.84 ERA, tops among regularly-used pitchers.
Gene Mauch coached the team. The 1986 California Angels qualified for the playoffs as a division winner.
