Albert Pujols walloped 46 home runs for the team, while Scott Rolen, Reggie Sanders and Jim Edmonds each added 20 or more, too. Scott Rolen drove in 124 runs. Albert Pujols led all regular hitters by connecting at a .331 clip. Jeff Suppan topped the team with 16 wins, and Jason Marquis, Matt Morris and Chris Carpenter each contributed 15 or more victories also Chris Carpenter registered a 3.46 earned run average, tops among regularly-used pitchers.

Tony LaRussa coached the team. The 2004 St. Louis Cardinals won the League Championship Series.
