Willie Wells compiled a career batting average of .327 with 145 home runs and 875 RBI in his 1068-game career with the St. Louis Stars, Chicago American Giants, Kansas City Monarchs, Homestead Grays, Detroit Wolves, Newark Eagles, New York Black Yankees, Baltimore Elite Giants, Cincinnati-Indianapolis Clowns and Memphis Red Sox. He began playing during the 1924 season and last took the field during the 1948 campaign. Wells was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
