The Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association ended the 1973-74 season with a record of 48 wins and 25 losses and 5 ties for 101 points, finishing first in the WHA's WHA West Division. The team compiled a postseason mark of 12-2.

The Aeros gave up 219 goals, the lowest total in the circuit. Houston netted 318 goals. Frank Hughes scored 42 goals for the team, while Jim Sherrit, Gordie Howe, Mark Howe, Larry Lund and Murray Hall each tallied 30 or more, too. Gordie Howe contributed 69 assists. Don McLeod earned 33 wins for the squad and a team-best 2.56 goals against average, leading goalies with significant playing time.

Bill Dineen coached the team. The 1973-74 Houston Aeros won the AVCO Cup.
