Bob Gainey compiled a record of 194 wins and 211 losses and 60 ties in his coaching career with the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens. He began coaching during the 1990 season and last coached during the 2008 campaign. Gainey was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.
