The 1896 season was the Kentucky-Indiana League's 1st, and 6 teams competed in the league that year. a/k/a the Pennyrile League The league began as the Pennyrile League, then restarted June 22 with Evansville, Henderson, Ownesboro and Vincennes. When Vincennes dropped out three teams were added and the league restarted, again, on July 1.
