The Amarillo Sonics of the Texas League ended the 1965 season with a record of 60 wins and 80 losses, finishing second in the league's West Division.

The Sonics scored 655 runs and surrendered 654 runs. Leo Posada paced Amarillo with 26 home runs, while Norm Miller, Aaron Pointer and Dave Adlesh each walloped 15 or more, too. Leo Posada drove in 107 runs and topped hitters with significant playing time by hitting .305. Raymond Cordeiro led the squad with 12 wins and a team-best 3.1 earned run average, tops among qualifying pitchers.

George Gerberman, Chuck Taylor, Don Arlich, Larry Yellen, Leon McFadden, Carroll Sembera, Ron Davis, Jim Mahoney, Bruce Von Hoff, Aaron Pointer, Norm Miller, Dave Adlesh, Don Bradey, Brock Davis, Leo Posada, Jim Ray and J C Hartman were all players from the 1965 Amarillo Sonics who played in the Majors during their careers.
