The Atlantic City Surf of the Atlantic League ended the 2002 season with a record of 71 wins and 53 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Surf topped the circuit with 709 runs, spearheaded by 138 home runs. Atlantic City yielded 595 runs. Keith Gordon paced the team with 20 home runs, while Jose Velazquez and Chad Gambill walloped 15 or more, too. Jose Velazquez accounted for 94 RBI and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .323 clip. Maximo Nunez led the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 3.43 ERA, leading regular hurlers.
