The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 2005 season with a record of 71 wins and 67 losses, finishing sixth in the league's South Division.

The Tourists led the league with 734 runs, sparked by 167 home runs. Asheville surrendered 773 runs, most in the circuit. Joe Koshansky walloped 36 home runs for the team, while Justin Nelson, Matt Miller and Jose Valdez each added 15 or more, too. Joe Koshansky drove in 103 runs. Matt Miller paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .331 clip. Sam Deduno, Matt Daley and Franklin Morales topped the team with 8 wins each, and Ching-Lung Lo recorded a 5.65 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
