The Birmingham Barons of the Southern Association ended the 1955 season with a record of 88 wins and 65 losses, finishing second in the SA.

The Barons paced the circuit with just 658 runs allowed. Birmingham scored 784 runs. Bob Martyn led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .318 clip. John Wingo topped the team with 15 wins, while Jim Kite earned a 2.72 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.
