The Birmingham Barons of the Southern Association ended the 1959 season with a record of 92 wins and 61 losses, finishing first in the SA.

The Barons scored 735 runs and yielded 585 runs. Gail Henley paced Birmingham with 20 home runs, while Jay Cooke and Steve Boros walloped 15 or more also. George Alusik drove in 89 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .309 clip. Wyman Carey, Gordon Seyfried and Bob Miller led the team with 14 wins each, and Ron Mrozinski recorded a 1.86 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
