The Columbus Catfish of the South Atlantic League ended the 2006 season with a record of 72 wins and 68 losses, finishing fourth in the league's South Division.

The Catfish scored 711 runs and surrendered 743 runs. Sergio Pedroza led Columbus with 21 home runs, while Russ Mitchell and Lucas May walloped 15 or more also. Lucas May recorded 82 runs batted in. Iván De Jesús paced batters with significant playing time by hitting .277. Arismendy Castillo and Jordan Pratt topped the team with 8 wins each, and James McDonald registered a 3.99 earned run average, best among regular hurlers.

Russ Mitchell, Jon Meloan, James McDonald, Lucas May, Brent Leach, Iván De Jesús, Cory Wade, Travis Denker and Ramón Troncoso were all players from the 2006 Columbus Catfish who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
