The Cedar Rapids Giants of the Midwest League ended the 1977 season with a record of 74 wins and 66 losses, finishing third in the league's South Division.

The Giants scored 711 runs and surrendered 634 runs. Bob Brenly led Cedar Rapids with 22 home runs, while Rich Murray, Kenneth Feinberg and John Sylvester each walloped 15 or more as well. Rich Murray drove in 94 runs. John Sylvester paced all regular batters by connecting at a .296 clip. Dan Hartwig, Phil Nastu and Michael Wardlow topped the squad with 10 wins each, and Phil Nastu recorded a 1.88 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
