The Charleston Rebels of the South Atlantic League ended the 1953 season with a record of 55 wins and 84 losses, finishing seventh in the SAL.

The Rebels plated 566 runs and conceded 667 runs. Theodore Del Guercio led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .333 clip. Larry Shepard topped Charleston with 10 wins and a team-best 2.49 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Chuck Churn, Bob Garber, Glenn McQuillen, Pete Naton, Paul Pettit, John Simmons, Earl Smith, Don Williams and Grady Wilson were all players from the 1953 Charleston Rebels who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.

Frank Oceak, Norman Shope and Larry Shepard served as manager.
