The Columbus RedStixx of the South Atlantic League ended the 1996 season with a record of 79 wins and 63 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The RedStixx topped the circuit with 729 runs, sparked by 167 home runs. Columbus allowed 610 runs. Russell Branyan walloped 40 home runs for the team, while Darren Stumberger, Heath Hayes and Scott Morgan each swatted 15 or more also. Russell Branyan accounted for 106 RBI. Darren Stumberger topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .310 clip. Ross Atkins led the squad with 11 wins, and Frankie Sanders registered a 2.53 earned run average, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Marco Scutaro, Scott Winchester, Mike Glavine, Russell Branyan, J. J. Thobe, Jim Crowell, Mark Budzinski and Jason Rakers were all players from the 1996 Columbus RedStixx who played in the Majors during their careers.
