The Edmonton Trappers of the Pacific Coast League ended the 2002 season with a record of 81 wins and 59 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division of the Pacific Conference.

The Trappers led the league with 820 runs, fueled by 202 home runs. Edmonton allowed 731 runs. Mike Ryan walloped 31 home runs for the squad, while Michael Restovich, Javier Valentín, Michael Cuddyer, Todd Sears and Casey Blake each swatted 15 or more, too. Mike Ryan recorded 101 runs batted in. Todd Sears paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .310 clip. Adam Johnson topped the squad with 13 wins and a team-best 5.48 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
