The Greensboro Hornets of the South Atlantic League ended the 1992 season with a record of 74 wins and 67 losses, finishing third in the league's North Division.

The Hornets topped the league with 703 runs, ignited by 95 home runs. Greensboro allowed 672 runs. Tate Seefried led the team with 20 home runs, while Lew Hill and Rick Lantrip walloped 15 or more also. Tate Seefried drove in 90 runs. Rick Lantrip paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .253 clip.
