The Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League ended the 2000 season with a record of 75 wins and 66 losses, finishing third in the league's Northern Division.
The Crawdads scored 762 runs, best in the league. Hickory gave up 709 runs. J. R. House led the squad with 23 home runs, while Jovanny Sosa, José Castillo and Tony Alvarez each walloped 15 or more also. J. R. House drove in 90 runs and topped all regular batters by hitting .348.
