The Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League ended the 2000 season with a record of 75 wins and 66 losses, finishing third in the league's Northern Division.

The Crawdads scored 762 runs, best in the league. Hickory gave up 709 runs. J. R. House led the squad with 23 home runs, while Tony Alvarez, José Castillo and Jovanny Sosa each walloped 15 or more also. J. R. House drove in 90 runs and topped all regular batters by hitting .348. David Williams paced the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 2.96 earned run average, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

J. R. House, David Williams, Ronny Paulino, Tony Alvarez, José Castillo, Jeff Bennett, Mike Johnston and D. J. Carrasco were all players from the 2000 Hickory Crawdads who played in the Majors during their careers.

Jay Loviglio served as manager.
