The Kinston Indians of the Carolina League ended the 2004 season with a record of 88 wins and 50 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Indians scored 724 runs, most in the league. Kinston gave up 559 runs. Jonathan Van Every led the team with 21 home runs, while Ryan Garko walloped 15 or more, too. Jonathan Van Every recorded 71 runs batted in. Eider Torres paced all regular hitters by hitting .302. Brian Slocum topped the squad with 15 wins, and Keith Ramsey recorded a 3.87 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
