The Mobile Bears of the Southern Association ended the 1953 season with a record of 66 wins and 87 losses, finishing seventh in the SA.

The Bears scored 645 runs and conceded 788 runs, most in the circuit. Bert Hamric paced Mobile with 18 home runs Ray Shearer drove in 84 runs. William Kerr led all regular hitters with a .320 average. Bill Harris topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 3.48 ERA, tops among hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Bill Harris, Wally Hood, Ray Shearer, Stan Rojek, Norm Larker, Dick Teed, Rudy Rufer and Bert Hamric were all players from the 1953 Mobile Bears who played in the Majors during their careers.

Ed Head served as manager.
