The Montgomery Grays of the South Atlantic League ended the 1953 season with a record of 50 wins and 90 losses, finishing eighth in the SAL.

The Grays scored 540 runs, worst in the league, and yielded 656 runs. Pierce McWhorter accounted for 42 RBI. George Risley led all regular batters by hitting .277. Roger Higgins and Gene Host topped the squad with 10 wins each, while Gene Host earned a 3.15 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

John Baumgartner, Gene Host, Lou Lombardo, Charlie Metro, Bobo Osborne, Walt Streuli and Coot Veal were all players from the 1953 Montgomery Grays who played in the Majors during their careers.

Charlie Metro served as manager.
