The Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League ended the 2008 season with a record of 89 wins and 51 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Pelicans scored 764 runs, most in the league. Myrtle Beach yielded 596 runs. Ernesto Mejia led the squad with 21 home runs, while Willie Cabrera, Eric Campbell, Tyler Flowers, Brandon Hicks, Travis Jones and Jon Mark Owings each walloped 15 or more, too. Ernesto Mejia drove in 93 runs. Willie Cabrera paced batters with significant playing time with a .290 average. Scott Diamond topped the squad with 12 wins, and Kyle Cofield recorded a 3.26 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.
