The Newark Bears of the Atlantic League ended the 2005 season with a record of 58 wins and 82 losses, finishing third in the league's North Division.

The Bears plated 708 runs and allowed 850 runs, most in the league. Wilfredo Quintana paced Newark with 25 home runs, while José Herrera and Keith Maxwell walloped 15 or more, too. Keith Maxwell drove in 78 runs. José Herrera led hitters with significant playing time with a .318 average. Pat Daneker topped the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 4.44 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
