The Nishitetsu Lions of the Japan Pacific League ended the 1963 season with a record of 86 wins and 60 losses, finishing first in the JPPL.
The Lions led the circuit with just 477 runs allowed. Nishitetsu scored 584 runs. Teruyuki Takakura paced the team with 27 home runs, while Tony Roig, Hiromi Wada, Jim Baumer and George Wilson each walloped 15 or more, too. Tony Roig recorded 81 runs batted in. Jim Baumer topped batters with significant playing time by hitting .274. Kazuhisa Inao notched 28 wins on the mound for the squad, and Tsutomu Tanaka also added 15 or more wins also Kazuharu Abe recorded a 1.75 ERA, tops among regularly-used pitchers.
