The Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes of the Mexican League ended the 2002 season with a record of 62 wins and 48 losses, finishing third in the league's Northern Division.

The Tecolotes scored 580 runs and allowed 580 runs. Robert Saucedo walloped 32 home runs for Nuevo Laredo, while Raymond Nunez, Bob Zambrano and Joel Chimelis each swatted 15 or more also. Raymond Nunez drove in 92 runs. Wilfredo Arano paced all regular hitters with a .340 average. Armando Valdez topped the team with 14 wins, and Rigoberto Loya registered a 3.75 earned run average, best among regular hurlers.

David Cortés played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes to do so.
