The Orangeburg Cardinals of the Western Carolinas League ended the 1973 season with a record of 50 wins and 72 losses, finishing sixth in the WCL.

The Cardinals scored 451 runs, worst in the league, and gave up 609 runs, most in the circuit. Steven Burton led Orangeburg with 12 home runs Randy Recor drove in 61 runs and topped hitters with significant playing time with a .257 average. Joseph Kubeck paced the squad with 11 wins, while Mike Ibarguen recorded a 2.46 ERA, best among regular hurlers.

Tito Landrum played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Orangeburg Cardinals to do so.

Jim Piersall served as manager.
