The Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League ended the 1986 season with a record of 77 wins and 63 losses, finishing second in the league's South Division.

The Chiefs scored 655 runs and gave up 619 runs. Mark Grace paced Peoria with 15 home runs and drove in 95 runs, while leading all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .342 average. Bill Danek topped the squad with 13 wins, and Len Damian recorded a 2.85 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.

Greg Smith, Dave Liddell, Kelly Mann, Joe Girardi, Joe Kraemer, Dwight Smith and Mark Grace were all players from the 1986 Peoria Chiefs who played in the Majors during their careers.
