The Potomac Cannons of the Carolina League ended the 2000 season with a record of 62 wins and 76 losses, finishing fourth in the league's Northern Division.

The Cannons plated 597 runs and allowed 642 runs. Troy Farnsworth paced Potomac with 23 home runs and accounted for 113 RBI. Troy McNaughton topped all regular hitters by hitting .275. Les Walrond led the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 3.34 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Mike Crudale, Bo Hart, Josh Pearce, Albert Pujols, Esix Snead, Steve Stemle, Les Walrond and Jack Wilson were all players from the 2000 Potomac Cannons who played in the Majors during their careers.

Joe Cunningham served as manager.
