The Pampa Oilers of the Southwestern League ended the 1956 season with a record of 80 wins and 60 losses, finishing third in the SL.
The Oilers scored 1074 runs and conceded 878 runs. Len Tucker crushed 51 homers for Pampa, while Allan Cross, James Robinette, John Bruzga and James Martin each walloped 15 or more as well. Len Tucker drove in 181 runs and topped batters with significant playing time with a .404 average. Ernest Bartolomei led the team with 16 wins, and Hoyt Benedict added 15 or more wins, too Hoyt Benedict recorded a 3.61 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
Sam Woods played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Pampa Oilers to do so.
