The Raleigh Capitals of the Carolina League ended the 1961 season with a record of 58 wins and 80 losses, finishing sixth in the CL.

The Capitals scored 593 runs, worst in the league, and allowed 711 runs, most in the circuit. Kenneth Orbison led Raleigh with 13 home runs Bob Rikard drove in 75 runs. Wayne Coleman paced hitters with significant playing time by hitting .294. Marc Hoy topped the squad with 10 wins, while Norman Shanahan registered a 2.62 earned run average, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Enos Slaughter played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Raleigh Capitals to do so.

Enos Slaughter served as manager.
