The Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League ended the 1999 season with a record of 69 wins and 69 losses, finishing third in the league's South Division.

The Avalanche scored 574 runs, worst in the league, and allowed 600 runs. Todd Sears led Salem with 14 home runs Miguel Correa drove in 79 runs. Jody Gerut paced hitters with significant playing time by hitting .289. Josh Kalinowski topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 2.11 earned run average, tops among qualifying pitchers.

Shawn Chacón, Justin Miller, Chone Figgins, John Thomson, Jody Gerut, Mark DiFelice, Tim Christman, John Lindsey and Todd Sears were all players from the 1999 Salem Avalanche who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
