The Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League ended the 2004 season with a record of 65 wins and 74 losses, finishing fourth in the league's South Division.

The Avalanche plated 577 runs and conceded 638 runs. Mark Saccomanno paced Salem with 22 home runs and accounted for 80 RBI. Pat Peavey led hitters with significant playing time by hitting .275. Jason Hirsh topped the squad with 11 wins, while Fernando Nieve registered a 2.96 earned run average, leading regular hurlers.
