The Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League ended the 2006 season with a record of 76 wins and 61 losses, finishing second in the league's South Division.

The Avalanche paced the circuit with just 518 runs allowed. Salem scored 582 runs. Lou Santangelo led the team with 18 home runs, and Drew Sutton walloped 15 or more, too. Francisco Caraballo recorded 65 runs batted in. Beau Torbert topped all regular batters by hitting .305. Jimmy Barthmaier paced the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 3.63 earned run average, best among regular hurlers.
