The Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League ended the 2008 season with a record of 56 wins and 84 losses, finishing fourth in the league's South Division.

The Avalanche plated 637 runs and yielded 725 runs. Mark Ori paced Salem with 11 home runs and recorded 89 runs batted in, while leading hitters with significant playing time by hitting .304. Doug Arguello topped the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 3.3 ERA, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Brian Bogusevic played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Salem Avalanche to do so.

Jim Pankovits served as manager.
