The Salt Lake Buzz of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1996 season with a record of 78 wins and 66 losses, finishing second in the league's North Division.

The Buzz scored 855 runs, most in the league. Salt Lake conceded 798 runs. Todd Walker paced the squad with 28 home runs, while Brian Raabe, Jamie Ogden and Tom Quinlan each walloped 15 or more, too. Todd Walker drove in 111 runs. Brian Raabe led hitters with significant playing time by hitting .351. Phil Stidham topped the squad with 10 wins, and Scott Klingenbeck earned a 3.12 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.
