The Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League ended the 2008 season with a record of 83 wins and 61 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division of the Pacific Conference.

The River Cats plated 786 runs and surrendered 694 runs. Brooks Conrad paced Sacramento with 28 home runs, while Wes Bankston, Danny Putnam and Landon Powell each walloped 15 or more also. Brooks Conrad drove in 91 runs. Casey Rogowski topped all regular batters with a .277 average. Dan Meyer led the squad with 10 wins, and Gio Gonzalez and Kirk Saarloos recorded a 4.24 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.
