The Waterloo Hawks of the Midwest League ended the 1961 season with a record of 75 wins and 51 losses, finishing first in the MWL.
The Hawks topped the league with 876 runs, ignited by 154 home runs. Waterloo allowed 671 runs. Bob Lawrence walloped 30 home runs for the team, while Richie Waite, Paul Jernigan and Dave Hall each swatted 15 or more, too. Bob Lawrence drove in 127 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .305. David Busby led the squad with 21 wins and a team-best 2.42 ERA, tops among regular hurlers. Matt Sczesny and Bill Slack served as manager.
