The Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League ended the 1996 season with a record of 74 wins and 65 losses, finishing second in the league's South Division.

The Warthogs scored 641 runs and surrendered 643 runs. Decomba Conner led Winston-Salem with 20 home runs, while Marlon Allen, Justin Towle and Nick Morrow each walloped 15 or more, too. Marlon Allen drove in 82 runs. Amador Arias paced hitters with significant playing time with a .288 average. Clay Caruthers topped the squad with 10 wins, and Brian Lott recorded a 4.34 ERA, best among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
