The Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League ended the 2005 season with a record of 77 wins and 64 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Warthogs plated 809 runs, tops in the circuit. Winston-Salem conceded 698 runs. Tom Collaro and Leo Daigle paced the team with 29 home runs apiece., while Noah Hall and Micah Schnurstein walloped 15 or more, too. Leo Daigle drove in 112 runs and topped all regular batters with a .341 average. Ryan Rodriguez led the squad with 13 wins and a team-best 4.09 earned run average, leading regular hurlers.

Charlie Haeger, Fabio Castro, Lance Broadway, Gio Gonzalez, Boone Logan, Gustavo Molina, Wes Whisler, Fernando Hernández and Ehren Wassermann were all players from the 2005 Winston-Salem Warthogs who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
