The Thunderbirds netted 266 goals, worst in the league and gave up 329, most in the circuit. Brian Hannon scored 30 goals for Carolina, and Blair McReynolds accounted for 39 assists. Nick Vitucci topped the squad with 11 wins and a team-best 4.65 goals against average, best among regular goalies.
Brian Carroll, Joe Selenski, Keith McAdams and Brandon Watson coached the team. The 1988-89 Carolina Thunderbirds won the League Championship.
