The Vancouver Whitecaps of the North American Soccer League ended the 1981 season with a record of 21 wins and 11 losses for 186 points in the NASL's North Division.
The Whitecaps topped the league with just 43 goals allowed. Vancouver chalked up 74 goals. Peter Beardsley scored 13 goals for the squad, while Bob Lenarduzzi, Ray Hankin, Peter Lorimer, Alan Taylor, Carl Valentine and Gerry Gray each netted five or more also. Peter Lorimer contributed 17 assists. Barry Siddall recorded a 17.62 goals against average, pacing goalkeepers with enough qualifying appearances.
