Renovated in 1923, 1940, 1963, and 1990. The Field, whose RF fence abuts the Citrus Bowl, was named for Chicago Cub SS Joe Tinker, who settled in Orlando becoming the owner/manager of the Orlando Florida State League club. The Senators began training here 1936 through 1961. Before a spring training game between Washington and the Philadelphia Athletics, Connie Mack and Clark Griffith, both in their 80s, staged a race on the base paths. Griffith started from first and Mack from third; each headed home. They reached home simultaneously in a pre-planned tie, to the delight of the crowd. The catcher faced NE. In 1963, the wooden grandstand was replaced with a concrete structure at a cost of $310,000. In 1990, Tinker Field received a new facade, and palm trees were added to the landscape. The seating capacity of 5,104 includes 500 wooden seats from old Griffith Stadium installed at the top of the grandstand.
