The Stadium was built on the grounds of a former Naval Air Station given to the city by the federal government after World War II. The stadium, located on Jackie Robinson Lane, was dedicated in 1953 to local businessman Bud Holman, who persuaded the Dodgers to move their spring training operations to the Naval Air Station grounds in 1948. There were no dugouts; the teams sat on benches along the foul lines. The stadium is still being used.
