The Tigers topped the circuit with 829 runs, sparked by 187 home runs. Detroit surrendered 643 runs, least in the league. Lance Parrish walloped 33 home runs for the team, while Darrell Evans, Kirk Gibson and Chet Lemon each swatted 20 or more, too. Lance Parrish drove in 98 runs. Alan Trammell led batters with significant playing time by hitting .314. Jack Morris paced the team with 19 wins, and Milt Wilcox and Dan Petry added 15 or more victories also Willie Hernandez registered a 1.92 earned run average, leading regularly-used pitchers.

Sparky Anderson coached the team. The 1984 Detroit Tigers won the World Series.
