The Reds scored 775 runs and allowed 681 runs. Johnny Bench walloped 45 home runs for Cincinnati, while Bobby Tolan, Lee May, Tony Perez, Pete Rose and Bernie Carbo each added 20 or more, too. Johnny Bench drove in 148 runs. Tony Perez led hitters with significant playing time by hitting .317. Jim Merritt topped the squad with 20 wins, plus Gary Nolan contributed 15 or more wins, too Wayne Simpson recorded a 3.02 ERA, tops among regularly-used pitchers.

Sparky Anderson coached the team. The 1970 Cincinnati Reds won the League Championship Series.
