The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 2001 season with a record of 68 wins and 71 losses, finishing fifth in the league's Southern Division.

The Tourists plated 628 runs and surrendered 674 runs, most in the league. Brad Hawpe paced Asheville with 22 home runs, while Mike Tejada and Eddie Muth walloped 15 or more also. Brad Hawpe drove in 72 runs. René Reyes led batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .322 clip. Diogenes Gomez topped the squad with 12 wins, and Nick Webb earned a 3.33 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
