The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 2002 season with a record of 64 wins and 74 losses, finishing sixth in the league's Southern Division.

The Tourists tallied 639 runs and yielded 715 runs. Tony Miller paced Asheville with 17 home runs Jayson Nix drove in 79 runs. Nick Gretz led all regular hitters by connecting at a .316 clip. Zack Parker topped the team with 16 wins, while Justin Hampson registered a 3.84 earned run average, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Jayson Nix, Alvin Colina, Ryan Speier, Matt Roney, Alex Serrano, Justin Hampson, Eduardo Villacis, Jermaine Van Buren and Jeff Francis were all players from the 2002 Asheville Tourists who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
