The Capital City Bombers of the South Atlantic League ended the 2002 season with a record of 75 wins and 64 losses, finishing third in the league's Southern Division.

The Bombers scored 691 runs and surrendered 593 runs. David Wright and Justin Huber led Capital City with 11 home runs apiece. David Wright drove in 93 runs. Wayne Lydon paced all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .294 average. Harold Eckert topped the squad with 13 wins, while Ross Peeples recorded a 2.43 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
