The Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League ended the 2009 season with a record of 78 wins and 60 losses, finishing second in the league's Western Division.

The Kernels scored 663 runs and yielded 595 runs. Angel Castillo led Cedar Rapids with 12 home runs Gabe Jacobo drove in 72 runs. Alexi Amarista paced all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .319 average. Will Smith topped the squad with 10 wins, while Manuel Flores recorded a 3.6 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
